Job summary

Müller UK & Ireland is seeking a Transport Shift Manager at the Manchester Depot. You will lead a busy transport operation, drive performance, coach your team and ensure safe, compliant delivery of service.

You’ll own the shift, resolve issues, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to sustain continuous improvement across the operation. In this hands-on leadership role, you’ll focus on developing people, managing performance, and ensuring health and safety standards while delivering

Qualifications

• Solid understanding of transport operations and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and support your team to perform at their best.
• Monitor KPIs and take corrective actions as needed.
• Run Daily Operations Reviews and translate insights into improvements.
• Conduct regular performance conversations and development plans.
• Handle employee relations matters with confidence and fairness.
• Prioritise health and safety and lead investigations as required.
• Ensure shift aligns with legal, audit and DTAS requirements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and improve operations.
• Support farm services activity and act as escalation point for issues.
• Model Müller behaviours and promote MMID values within the team.

Job description

We're looking for a Transport Shift Manager to join our team at the Müller Manchester Depot. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll be right at the heart of the operation, supporting your team, keeping performance on track and making sure we deliver a safe, efficient and well-run transport operation. If you're a confident people leader who enjoys solving problems, developing others and looking for ways to make things better, we'd love to hear from you., You'll take ownership of the shift and lead your team to deliver a great operation. Day to day, you'll:

• Lead, coach and support your team, creating an environment where people can perform at their best
• Keep a close eye on operational performance and KPIs, taking action when things aren't going to plan
• Run Daily Operations Reviews and help turn performance insights into practical improvements
• Support your team through regular performance conversations, development plans and succession planning
• Manage employee relations matters confidently and fairly
• Put health and safety at the heart of the operation, including leading investigations and encouraging your team to speak up and work safely
• Make sure your shift operates in line with legal, audit and DTAS requirements
• Work closely with other teams across the business to solve problems and improve how we operate
• Support farm services activity and act as an escalation point when issues arise
• Lead by example and bring Müller behaviours to life within your team
• Promote and embed MMID behaviours throughout the team.

We're looking for someone who is comfortable leading in a busy transport environment and genuinely enjoys working with people.

Ideally, you'll bring:

• Experience leading a team within transport or logistics
• A confident and approachable leadership style
• A real interest in coaching and developing others
• The ability to stay calm, make decisions and solve problems in a fast-paced operation
• A proactive mindset and an eye for continuous improvement
• A good understanding of transport operations
• Transport Manager CPC would be an advantage, but isn't essential
