Job summary

Müller UK & Ireland is seeking a Transport Shift Manager for the Manchester Depot. This hands-on leadership role places you at the heart of the operation, guiding your team to maintain a safe, efficient and well-run transport operation.

You’ll coach, develop, and drive improvements while meeting performance targets. Ideal candidates will have experience leading in transport or logistics, a calm, proactive leadership style, and a strong drive for continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a team within transport or logistics.
• Confident and approachable leadership style.

• Solid understanding of transport operations; CPC is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coach the shift team to deliver a reliable transport operation.
• Monitor KPIs and take action to keep performance on track.
• Run daily operations reviews and implement practical improvements.
• Support team through performance conversations and development plans.
• Handle employee relations matters with fairness and clarity.
• Ensure health and safety is prioritised and investigations are conducted as needed.
• Coordinate with other teams to resolve issues and improve operations.
• Act as escalation point for farm services and operational challenges.
• Model Müller behaviours and promote MMID values within the team.

We’re looking for a Transport Shift Manager to join our team at the Müller Manchester Depot.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll be right at the heart of the operation, supporting your team, keeping performance on track and making sure we deliver a safe, efficient and well-run transport operation.

What you’ll be doing:

You’ll take ownership of the shift and lead your team to deliver a great operation. Day to day, you’ll:

- Lead, coach and support your team, creating an environment where people can perform at their best

- Keep a close eye on operational performance and KPIs, taking action when things aren’t going to plan

- Run Daily Operations Reviews and help turn performance insights into practical improvements

- Support your team through regular performance conversations, development plans and succession planning

- Manage employee relations matters confidently and fairly

- Put health and safety at the heart of the operation, including leading investigations and encouraging your team to speak up and work safely

- Make sure your shift operates in line with legal, audit and DTAS requirements

- Work closely with other teams across the business to solve problems and improve how we operate

- Support farm services activity and act as an escalation point when issues arise

- Lead by example and bring Müller behaviours to life within your team

- Promote and embed MMID behaviours throughout the team.

What we’re looking for:

We’re looking for someone who is comfortable leading in a busy transport environment and genuinely enjoys working with people.

Ideally, you’ll bring:

- Experience leading a team within transport or logistics

- A confident and approachable leadership style

- A real interest in coaching and developing others

- The ability to stay calm, make decisions and solve problems in a fast-paced operation

- A proactive mindset and an eye for continuous improvement

- A good understanding of transport operations

- Transport Manager CPC would be an advantage, but isn’t essential
