Job summary

GXO Logistics, Inc is seeking a Transport First Line Shift Manager at Preston Brook CDC. This role leads the shift’s transport operation, ensuring safety, service, cost and people KPIs, while guiding HR processes and investigations.

You will work Tue-Sat, 09:00–19:00 with peak-time flexibility; salary up to £37,000, 25 days leave, pension, life cover and other benefits. This role reports into the transport leadership and coordinates with client teams.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a transport operation and managing a shift.
• Strong HR and people management capability.
• Experience with investigations.
• Ability to manage customer escalations.
• Knowledge of transport legislation and compliance.
• Strong planning and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the transport operation during your shift, ensuring safety, service, cost and people KPIs.
• Conduct 1-1s, absence reviews, performance discussions and HR investigations.
• Oversee Health & Safety and transport audits, drive corrective actions.
• Manage customer escalations and complaints, implement service improvements.
• Produce reports and resource plans using spreadsheets and data.
• Plan next-day transport resources and lead team briefs.
• Support accident management and communicate with senior leaders and client.
