Job summary

Martin Brower UK & Ireland is seeking a Transport Shift Manager in Coventry to coordinate daily transport operations and lead a team of drivers, shunters, and clerical colleagues. You will ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operations while fostering an inclusive, high-performing culture.

You will plan shifts, manage holidays and resourcing, monitor KPIs, and contribute to reporting, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives within a global logistics leader.

Qualifications

• Experience leading teams in fast-paced logistics/transport environments, ideally including unionised settings.
• Commitment to high standards of health and safety, food quality, compliance and operational integrity.
• Ability to organise priorities, manage competing demands and stay adaptable.
• Strong relationship-building and clear, respectful communication with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels.
• Enjoy identifying opportunities for improvement and driving efficient processes.
• Comfort with scheduling tools, MS Office applications, and transport management systems.
• Knowledge of transport legislation, industry regulations, Lean principles and CPC would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and support daily transport operations, ensuring workloads, service levels, and productivity targets are achieved safely and effectively.
• Collaborate with drivers, operations teams, and customer service to maintain excellent communication and a positive customer experience.
• Coach and develop team members through feedback, training, performance reviews, and development opportunities.
• Plan workforce resources including shift prep, holiday management, absence cover, and scheduling to meet demands.
• Monitor performance, compliance, fleet availability, and KPIs, driving continuous improvement.
• Promote a culture of health, safety, wellbeing, quality, and legal compliance across all transport activities.
• Support audits and contribute to operational excellence and readiness.
