Job summary

Gist in Wardpark North, Cumbernauld, is recruiting an experienced Transport Shift Manager to lead a busy transport operation. You will manage a Tuesday–Saturday shift (7am–3pm or 11am–7pm) and develop a high-performing team, ensuring performance, safety and excellence in service.

The role reports to the Transport Operations Manager and requires flexibility to support a growing operation. Salary is up to £43,000 per annum with a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for progression.

Qualifications

• Proven hands-on experience in a transport function within FMCG distribution.
• Previous management level experience is essential.
• Strong people management and development skills.
• Analytical mindset with ability to translate data into action.
• Collaborative with ability to build relationships across the operation.
• Willingness to work varied shift patterns as operation evolves.
• Experience in a unionised environment beneficial but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Lead from the front to create a safe, supportive working environment.
• Own recruitment, induction, absence management and employee relations.
• Deliver effective team meetings, briefings, and clear communication.
• Drive KPIs by identifying opportunities for productivity, efficiency, service.
• Champion health, safety, compliance and standards in transport ops.
• Collaborate with Transport Operations Manager on value-adding tasks.
