Job summary

GXO Logistics, Inc. is seeking a Head of Health & Safety for the Group Transport unit. You will provide strategic leadership, guide QHSE initiatives, and ensure compliance across sites with a proactive safety culture.

The role involves UK-wide travel on a full-time basis, with standard business hours and base at a GXO site. You will lead the development of QHSE objectives, drive risk reduction, and partner with senior leaders to implement effective management systems in line with Road to Zero

Qualifications

• NEBOSH Diploma (Level 6) or IOSH Diploma in Occupational Safety is essential.
• Full UK Driving Licence with ability to travel by sea, air, rail and tunnel.
• Willingness to work unsociable hours and overnight stays when required.
• Ability to pass CRB checks and driving assessments; fit to work in high-risk environments.
• 5 to 7 years’ experience within a similar role.

Responsibilities

• Support the QHSE Director in providing strategies and initiatives to manage business risks.
• Ensure sites within the BU use GXO electronic systems for reporting, recording and investigation.
• Collaborate with QHSE Leadership team and senior directors to align improvement plans.
• Develop Business Unit QHSE Objectives and monitor via a MAP.
• Ensure compliance with legal/regulatory obligations and ISO standards (ISO 45001, 14001, 9001).
• Maintain audit readiness and robust safety documentation with cross-functional teams.
