Job summary

North Yorkshire Council's Highways and Transportation Service is offering an Undergraduate Placement for students studying transport, planning, engineering or related degrees. You'll work with experienced professionals on live projects, developing technical and professional skills while understanding how local government delivers services to communities.

Responsibilities include researching transport data, supporting policy development, and assisting with project delivery and stakeholder

Qualifications

• Studying a transport related qualification.
• Interest in transport planning, highways, infrastructure or public service delivery.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Good organisational and analytical skills.
• Ability to solve problems and identify practical solutions.
• Good ICT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Willingness to learn and develop professionally.
• Ability to travel for work purposes.

Responsibilities

• Researching and analysing transport, highway and infrastructure data.
• Supporting the development of transport policies, strategies and consultations.
• Assisting with project delivery and stakeholder engagement activities.
• Preparing reports, presentations, briefings and correspondence.
• Working with colleagues across different service areas to understand how local authority services operate.
• Attending meetings with councillors, parish councils, partners and members of the public.
• Undertaking occasional site visits across North Yorkshire to support project development and delivery.
