Job summary

National Highways is seeking a Project Manager to guide developments in our East region, ensuring new plans are well located, well planned and harmonise with communities and environments while meeting policy and statutory duties.

Based from Bedford, Cambridge or Ipswich, you will build trusted relationships with stakeholders, work with developers, consultants and internal specialists, and manage planning responses and NEC contract work.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience building and managing relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience in town planning within development management or Local Plans.
  • Experience managing NEC contracts and knowledge of PM practices, processes and controls.
  • Ability to review/interpret technical documents with internal/external specialists.
  • Recognised qualification in engineering or significant civil engineering project delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders and internal specialists to support planning responses.
  • Lead programme management, financial reporting and risk management against budgets.
  • Ensure NH reputation in planning applications and local plans.
  • Drive NEC contract improvements and share best practices across planning.
  • Identify and mitigate risks, issues, dependencies and constraints across the portfolio.
