Job summary

National Highways seeks a Spatial Planning Manager in the East of England to lead a team shaping development plans and transport strategies that align with the Strategic Road Network. Based at an East of England office in Bedford, Cambridge or Ipswich on a hybrid basis, you will engage local authorities, manage regulatory duties, and oversee a specialist consultancy contract.

Travel to Birmingham may be required to share best practice and collaborate.

Qualifications

  • Chartered Transport or Town Planner status or equivalent experience.
  • Proven leadership experience and ability to direct and mentor teams.
  • Knowledge of the Spatial Planning system in England and related duties.
  • Understanding of infrastructure development and prioritisation for safe, world-class assets.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of Spatial Planners and Assistant Spatial Planners.
  • Shape development plans and transport strategies across the East of England.
  • Oversee regulatory duties and manage internal and external delivery partners.
  • Engage with local authorities and stakeholders to maximise value.
