Job Description

Business Overview:

While they deliver nationwide six days a week, they remain very much a local company at heart, based in the rural village of Bunny on the outskirts of Nottingham. The team is friendly, knowledgeable, and always willing to go the extra mile to ensure customers receive the highest level of service.

Overview:
As a Transport Planner, you will be responsible for evaluating, planning, and coordinating transportation and routes for a fleet of 20 3.5t Vehicles and 6 3PL partners to ensure the safe and efficient movement of goods from the supplier into goods in via 3PL partners to customers' residential addresses and the routing of each daily delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop Transportation Plans: Create plans for driver daily routes ensuring time and distance are achievable within the operation hours
  2. Coordinate: Work with customers and managers to understand their unique transportation requirements and relay any issues arising directly to management.
  3. Analyse Traffic Patterns: Identify roadway issues, recommend improvements based on traffic analysis, and inform drivers of possible route problems to avoid.
  4. Create Route Maps and Schedules: Develop efficient routes and schedules considering factors like distance, time, and cost.
  5. Communicate with 3PL Carriers: contact and organise inbound deliveries with carriers and suppliers to ensure optimal transport services.
  6. Developing and managing relationships, agreements, and contracts with internal and external clients, partners, and suppliers
  7. Monitor Performance Metrics: Track delivery times, costs, and other performance metrics, making adjustments as necessary.
  8. Ensure Compliance: Adhere to regulations, including health and safety laws and environmental standards.
  9. Stay Updated: Keep up with emerging transportation technologies.

Hourly Rate: £28,000 to £32,000 per annum depending on experience
• Free On-Site parking

Working Hours: Monday – Friday. You will be required to work 1 in 3 Saturdays.
• Working 07:30 – 17:30 Daily

Experience and Education Requirements:
• Education: a good level of secondary education including English and Mathematics as core subjects
• Experience: Hands-on experience with transportation planning software, working within a similar environment and fleet size.
• Skills: Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, effective communication abilities, and familiarity with industry trends, environmental regulations, and traffic management policies
• Commitment to equality and diversity.
• Commitment to health and safety.
• Understanding of HR procedures
• Understanding of the requirements of Operator Licence, DVSA, DVLA, and Traffic Commissioner roles and regulations as they relate to vehicle maintenance, compliance.
