Job summary

Van den Bosch is recruiting a Transport Planner for our UK operation in Birmingham, supporting a leading FMCG client. The role focuses on coordinating drivers, vehicles and deliveries, maintaining schedules and ensuring compliant, efficient transport planning in a busy, international setting.

You will work closely with UK and Netherlands teams, develop expertise in long-haul road freight and bulk logistics, and contribute to safe, reliable operations with weekend overtime where required.

Qualifications

• Experience within transport or logistics
• Experience coordinating drivers, vehicles, routes, deliveries and collections
• Exposure to long-haul road transport, bulk logistics or a comparable operation
• Understanding of drivers' hours and Working Time Directive requirements
• Good knowledge of day-to-day fleet and transport operations
• Experience using transport management or route planning systems
• Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills
• Confidence dealing with drivers, customers and operational colleagues
• Proactive, practical and solutions-focused approach
• Ability to commute comfortably to Bournville

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate drivers, vehicles, deliveries and collections
• Manage changing schedules and respond quickly to operational issues
• Monitor driver and vehicle availability against customer demand
• Support efficient route planning and fleet utilisation
• Work within drivers' hours, WTD and transport compliance requirements
• Communicate with drivers, customers and operational stakeholders
• Collaborate with planning colleagues in the UK and Netherlands
• Monitor delivery/collection performance and resolve issues
• Coordinate subcontractors and transport suppliers when required
• Maintain transport records and planning information
• Identify opportunities to improve planning efficiency
