Job summary

Menzies Distribution Solutions in Corby is seeking an experienced Transport Planner to join our busy team. This role supports day-to-day planning for multiple customers, with a focus on efficiency and on-time deliveries.

Working hours are 08:00–18:00, Monday to Friday, 50 hours per week (47.5 paid). Salary is £35k–£38k depending on experience, with benefits including a contributory pension, healthcare plan, and holiday entitlement.

Qualifications

• Must have previous experience in a Transport Planning Role.
• Experience working in a busy transport office.
• Knowledge of Drivers Hours, Tachograph and WTD legislation.
• Good standard of education and IT literate.
• Knowledge of Health & Safety; commercial understanding.

Responsibilities

• Prioritise workload and manage a demanding transport plan for multiple customers.
• Develop back haul lanes with Menzies depots and third-party customers while maintaining fleet utilisation.
• Ensure compliance with Working Time Directive and transport legislation.
• Cover loads with sub-contractors and negotiate rates.
• Utilise Menzies network to cover outbound loads and secure reloads for efficiency.
• Review vehicle earnings and revenue reports and understand costs.
• Forge excellent relationships with stakeholders and explain plans to management.
• Handle customer orders and optimise load fill, pallet counts to meet KPIs.
