Job summary

Menzies Distribution Solutions Ltd is seeking an experienced Transport Planner to join our Planning Centre in Normanton, Wakefield. You will manage daily transport plans for multiple customers, optimise loads and collaborate with depots to maximise efficiency.

The role demands hands-on planning with knowledge of Driver Hours, Tachograph and WTD legislation, and a proactive approach to continuous improvement in a fast-paced operation.

Qualifications

• Experience in a Transport Planning Role is mandatory.
• Experience in a busy Transport office.
• Knowledge of Drivers Hours, Tachograph and WTD legislation.
• Good standard of education and IT literate.

Responsibilities

• Prioritise workload and plan for multiple customers.
• Develop back haul lanes with Menzies depots and 3rd party customers while maintaining fleet utilisation.
• Cover loads with Sub-Contractors and negotiate rates.
• Utilise the Menzies network to cover outbound loads and secure reloads for efficiency.
• Review vehicle earnings and revenue reports and understand associated costs.
• Explain efficiencies and plans to Management and Supervisors.
• Deal with customer orders and KPI targets to minimise empty running and maximise profitability.
