Job summary

JT Recruit Ltd on behalf of our client is looking for an experienced Transport Planner to join our Derby operation. You will plan and coordinate daily transport movements, allocate vehicles and drivers, and ensure operations run smoothly in a fast-paced environment.

The role offers a Monday–Friday pattern with start times 05:00, 07:00, 10:00 or 12:00, a 40-hour week, and a salary up to £35,000 depending on experience.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in transport planning or logistics.
• Understanding of vehicle/driver planning.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to stay calm under pressure and maintain attention to detail.
• Knowledge of driver hours and transport compliance is a plus.
• Experience with route planning software is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate daily transport movements to meet customer and operational requirements.
• Allocate vehicles and drivers to maximise utilisation and service levels.
• Monitor transport activity and address delays or disruptions.
• Communicate with drivers, customers and partners to ensure smooth operations.
• Ensure plans comply with legislation and company procedures.
• Maintain accurate planning records and documentation.
• Collaborate with teams to improve planning processes and customer service.
