Job summary

Project Centre is seeking a proactive Transport Planner to join our growing team in London. You will support feasibility studies and project development, analysing data and preparing documentation under the guidance of Project Managers.

Ideal candidates have a degree in transport or a related field and experience in transport planning or traffic engineering. Proficiency with GIS, AutoCAD and MS Office is beneficial, and a commitment to delivering high-quality, compliant solutions is essential.

About The Role

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and ambitious Transport Planner to join our growing team.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with experience in transport planning or traffic engineering who wants to develop their technical skills, work on a diverse range of projects and build a career in the transport and planning industry.

You’ll play an important role in supporting the delivery of transportation planning and development projects from inception through to completion.

What You'll Be Doing

• Supporting feasibility studies, concept development, designs and development planning projects.
• Analysing and manipulating data from a range of sources to support project delivery and technical recommendations.
• Using GIS and other technical tools to analyse information and support project development.
• Attending site visits and surveys, gaining valuable practical experience of transport and highways environments.
• Providing technical support across projects and contributing to the resolution of complex technical issues.
• Supporting the development of transport and planning solutions that respond to client and stakeholder requirements.
• Responding to client and customer requests and enquiries, helping to ensure their needs are understood and met.
• Preparing project documentation and content under the guidance of Project Managers.
• Maintaining accurate project files and ensuring work complies with our quality assurance processes.
• Supporting the team with wider activities and contributing to the ongoing development of Project Centre.

What You'll Bring

• A degree in a relevant Transport subject.
• Previous experience within a transport planning or traffic engineering environment.
• Knowledge and experience of the transport and planning industry.
• Experience working on projects in accordance with current UK transport and highways policies and standards.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to develop effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Excellent organisation and time management skills, with the ability to manage and prioritise your own workload.
• Strong computer literacy and experience using Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Technical Skills

Experience with some of the following would be beneficial:

• GIS
• AutoCAD
• Transport appraisal and travel planning
• Transportation study techniques
• Traffic and highway legislation
• Active travel scheme design and development
• Transport modelling software such as SATURN, VISUM, VISSIM, TRANSYT, LinSig, TRL Junctions (Picady/Arcady)
• Transport appraisal tools such as TRICS, Tempro and the DfT Connectivity Tool
• Relevant technical and policy standards, such as DMRB, TAG, NPPF
• Experience using InDesign, Canva or similar software would also be useful.
