Job description

Here at GXO, we are recruiting for a Transport Planner to join our Drinks national network Planning Team in Derby. The role involves managing the planning and routing of 82 vehicles across 6 sites, ensuring full utilization of the network while meeting customer requirements within budget constraints. You will work in a fast-paced environment with an enthusiastic team.

This is a permanent, full-time opportunity working Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 18:00, with 1 weekend rota in 5.

We offer a salary of up to £32,000.00 per annum and 33 days of annual leave (including bank holidays). What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • Plan multi-drop routes for our fleet of rigid vehicles delivering beers, wines, and spirits to various client sites.
  • Work with high-profile clients to ensure efficient operations.
  • Conduct remedial planning to manage live changes to the plan.
  • Ensure all administrative work is accurate and of high standard.
  • Maximize efficiencies by managing available resources effectively.
  • Communicate effectively at all levels and make confident business decisions.
  • Problem-solve with a customer service focus.
  • Work with subcontractors and under pressure to meet tight deadlines.

What you need to succeed at GXO:

  • Transport planning experience in a fast-paced environment, such as transport, events, or scheduling.
  • Project-based experience and a mindset focused on continuous improvement.
  • Good geographical knowledge of the UK.
  • Experience with planning software like ESP or GTS is advantageous.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build effective relationships.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
