Metro is seeking a Transport Planner to join our Transport team in supporting internal departments and working with the Intermodal Manager to manage transport booking requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Haulage allocation and day-to-day management as required
• Serve as a focal point with internal and external customers
• Complete all requirements and offer alternatives when necessary
• Ensure all haulage requirements are met by approved suppliers
• Adapt and consider alternative requirements as needed
• Balance cost and service requirements at all times
• Develop and sustain key flow requirements, supporting the Multimodal Transport Manager
• Monitor supplier KPIs and assist management
• Develop relationships with suppliers and shipping line focal points
• Assist in transport system development and enhancement of house systems

Experience:

• UK haulage operations, FCL/LCL, and warehousing
• Intermodal and multiple port operations
• Good geographic and container inventory knowledge

General Skills:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong planning and attention to detail
• Proactive team player with excellent time management and organizational skills
