Learning and Development Manager (Health and Social Care)

Location: Remote (UK-based)

Type: Full-Time

Salary: £40,000 – £50,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

The Role:

We are seeking a proactive Learning and Development Manager with extensive experience in the Health and Social Care sector in the UK, to oversee our course creation and review processes. This role involves managing a team of in-house and freelance developers, ensuring the delivery of exceptional courses that meet both regulatory requirements and our creative standards.

Key Responsibilities:

•\tLead and manage the end-to-end course development lifecycle (design, creation, SME review, delivery).

•\tRecruit, onboard, and manage a team of in-house and freelance course developers, graphic designers, and animators.

•\tCoordinate with subject matter experts (SMEs) from the care sector for content validation and updates.

•\tCollaborate with our media production team to ensure high standards for live-action filming.

•\tWork closely with our LMS team to ensure seamless course integration and learner experience.

•\tManage timelines, budgets, and project documentation to keep production on track.

•\tContinuously improve learning design practices based on feedback and learning analytics.

Essential Requirements:

•\tDirect experience working within or developing training for the social care sector (residential care, domiciliary care, or community care settings).

•\tUK-based, with the right to work in the UK.

•\tProven experience managing learning content development teams.

•\tStrong knowledge of instructional design and adult learning principles.

•\tUnderstanding of video production processes (especially for learning purposes).

•\tComfortable working with and administering content through Learning Management Systems (LMS experience essential).

•\tExceptional project management skills, including resource planning and stakeholder management.

•\tExcellent written and verbal communication skills.

•\tAbility to lead, inspire, and develop a remote team.

Desirable Experience, Qualifications and Methodologies:

  • Experience working within a large care group, understanding the complexities and scale of such organisations.
  • CIPD Level 5 or 7 in Learning and Development or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with blended learning approaches, combining traditional and digital methods.
  • Experience conducting Learning Needs Analysis (LNA) to identify and address training requirements.
  • Proficiency in coaching and mentoring techniques to support staff development.
  • Knowledge of competency-based training frameworks, such as SFIAPlus.
  • Understanding of person-centred planning methodologies, emphasising individualised support.
  • Awareness of compliance standards, including CQC and Skills for Care requirements and safeguarding practices.
