Job summary

Gregory Distribution Ltd is seeking a proactive Transport Assistant to support the Transport Manager in leading the team, improving efficiency and service levels across UK routes. You will handle day-to-day transport issues, communicate with customers, prepare KPI reports, assist with breakdowns, and drive compliance within a growing logistics business.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Transport Manager to manage and motivate the transport team to ensure staff and assets are used effectively to attain maximum performance in terms of commercial contract efficiency, profit and client service levels.
• Provide leadership of day-to-day transport issues, including clear dispatch instructions and driver debriefs to maintain service quality.
• Work closely with our customers to ensure the smooth running of the operation as a whole.
• Provide regular reports to the Transport Manager on customer related and other relevant matters, making recommendations where relevant.
• Respond to queries confidently via email, phone and face-to-face interactions, ensuring excellent customer service at all times.
• Assisting in production of KPI's and daily statistics and playing an active role to ensure daily operational targets are met.
• Contribute to a safe and compliant working environment by following all company processes.
• Direct assistance and support for breakdowns.

• Strong geographical knowledge of the UK.

• Proactive, solution-focused mindset, with a flexible and adaptable approach to work.
• Capable of working as part of a team as well as independently with minimal supervision.
• Competent in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.

• Competitive Salary: £32,000 - £35,000 per annum, depending on experience.
