Job summary

Culina Group Limited in the United Kingdom is seeking a Transport Operator to join our Chilled & Fresh division on a full-time basis. The role focuses on vehicle utilisation, driver instructions and meeting service standards in a cost-effective way.

You will plan driver and vehicle utilisation, ensure compliance with driver hours regulations and H&S rules, and work with planning to optimise fleet performance. Salary £30,000 per year. Shift: Wednesday-Saturday, 19:30–07:30.

Qualifications

• Experience of working within a distribution/transport environment.
• Experience of managing own workload within a pressurised environment.
• Sound geographical knowledge.
• Basic understanding of driver’s hours regulations/Tachograph law.
• Excellent organisational skills.
• Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
• Initiative and the ability to work unsupervised.

Responsibilities

• Communicate all job elements to drivers and sub-contractors clearly and effectively.
• Plan the utilisation of drivers, vehicles, sub-contractors and agencies across sites.
• Ensure drivers work within safe environment and driver hours regulations.
• Liaise with planning to optimise fleet/driver utilisation and address delivery issues.
• Assist in controlling equipment to meet customer requirements and record results.
• Work with Compliance to ensure trucks are legal and data downloaded timely.
• Investigate accidents or driver performance issues with Transport Supervisors and HR.
• Support Supervisors in coaching drivers on driving style to improve safety and costs.
• Undertake additional tasks as required by Management.

As part of our Chilled & Freshdivision, we have an exciting opportunity to join the team as a Transport Operator on a full time permanent basis.

Salary:£30,000 per annum.

Shift:Wednesday-Saturday, 19:30pm-7:30am.

As the Transport Operator you will be responsible for effectively managing vehicle utilization and ensuring drivers are given clear and precise instructions. Ensuring that all service levels are met cost effectively and within the constraints of driver’s hours and H&S regulations.

Key Duties of a Transport Operator:

• - Ensuring that all elements of the job are effectively communicated to drivers and sub-contractors.
• - To plan the effective utilisation of drivers, vehicles, sub-contractors and agencies ensuring that all Company sites are fully considered when doing so.
• - Ensure that all drivers are working within a safe environment and follow driver hours regulations.
• - Liaising with planning team to optimise fleet/driver utilisation, identifying and resolving problems affecting delivery on time.
• - To assist in the control of equipment, ensuring that customer requirements are met and recorded.
• - Working with Compliance to ensure trucks are legal and information is downloaded in a timely manner.
• - Conducting initial investigations into accidents or issues of driver performance and raising with Transport Supervisors and HR to ensure they are dealt with efficiently and consistently.
• - Assist Supervisors in speaking to drivers about Virtual Risk Manager and improving driving style to improve FW MPG and overall safety and to ensure that costs are managed in accordance with the KPI’s.
• - Undertake additional tasks/duties as may be required by Management from time to time.
