Job description

Job Description

Do you want to be part of transforming travel across East Sussex? Flexibus—our modern, app based, on demand transport network—is changing how people move around the county. It helps residents access work, education, healthcare, and other essential services in flexible and innovative ways.

If you want to play a key role in delivering a service that makes a real difference every day, our Transport Officer role could be a great fit for you.

Flexibus is one of the most ambitious Digital Demand Responsive Transport (DDRT) programmes in the UK. It covers up to 90% of East Sussex and provides reliable, flexible mobility for residents who previously had limited or no public transport options.

The service is helping reduce isolation, increase independence, and open up essential connections through both app‑based and telephone bookings.

As Flexibus grows, strong support is essential to keep vehicles, journeys and customer experience running smoothly — and that is where this role comes in.

Responsibilities

As a Transport Officer in our Passenger Transport Team, you will support the day‑to‑day operation of the Flexibus service, helping ensure journeys run safely, efficiently, and reliably. Customer service is central to this role. You will engage with members of the public on a daily basis, often supporting people who rely on Flexibus as an essential service. This includes responding to routine enquiries as well as resolving complaints or concerns where journeys do not go to plan.

  • Supporting customers with bookings, enquiries, and complaints
