Job summary

DHL Group is seeking an experienced Transport Manager for our Derby area, leading the day-to-day transport operation and ensuring safe, compliant deliveries. The role requires a valid International CPC qualification and proven leadership within transport/Logistics, with strong data analysis and stakeholder management skills.

You will oversee driver teams, plan schedules, monitor KPIs, and drive continuous improvement across safety, cost efficiency, and service standards.

Qualifications

• Hold an International CPC Qualification (essential).
• Experience in a Transport Manager or Transport Operations Management role.
• Strong knowledge of UK transport legislation and compliance requirements.
• Proven leadership within a transport, logistics or distribution environment.
• Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to analyse operational data and implement improvements.
• Strong stakeholder management and customer service focus.
• Proficiency in transport management systems and MS Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the day-to-day transport operation, ensuring deliveries are completed safely, legally, and on time.
• Ensure compliance with transport legislation, including Driver Hours, Working Time Directive, and Operator Licence requirements.
• Manage, motivate, and develop a team of drivers, managers and transport planners.
• Monitor and improve KPIs such as service levels, vehicle utilisation, on-time delivery, and cost efficiency.
• Conduct investigations relating to accidents, incidents, and compliance breaches, implementing corrective actions.
• Oversee fleet management activities, including maintenance scheduling, vehicle availability, and defect reporting.
• Build relationships with customers and stakeholders to ensure service excellence.
• Drive a culture of safety, engagement, and continuous improvement across the transport operation.
• Manage transport budgets and identify opportunities to reduce costs while maintaining service standards.
