Job summary

DHL Supply Chain seeks an experienced Transport Manager to lead our East Midlands operation at East Midlands Gateway - Derby. The role focuses on safe, compliant, and efficient deliveries, with strong people leadership and continuous improvement in a fast-paced environment.

Applicants must hold an International CPC Qualification and have prior transport management experience with solid knowledge of UK transport legislation.

Qualifications

• Hold an International CPC Qualification (essential).
• Experience as Transport Manager or Transport Operations Management.
• Strong knowledge of UK transport legislation and compliance requirements.
• Proven leadership experience within a transport, logistics, or distribution environment.
• Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to analyse operational data and implement improvements.
• Strong stakeholder management and customer service focus.
• Proficiency in transport management systems and Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the day-to-day transport operation, ensuring on-time deliveries.
• Ensure compliance with transport legislation including Driver Hours and Operator Licence requirements.
• Manage and develop a team of drivers, managers and transport planners.
• Monitor KPIs such as service levels, vehicle utilisation, and cost efficiency.
• Investigate accidents and compliance breaches and implement corrective actions.
• Oversee fleet management, maintenance scheduling, and defect reporting.
• Build relationships with customers and stakeholders for service excellence.
• Drive safety culture and continuous improvement across the operation.
• Manage transport budgets and identify cost reduction opportunities.
