Job summary

GXO Logistics, Inc. is recruiting a Transport Manager for the GXO Direct operation in Sherburn-in-Elmet. This full-time, fixed-term 3-month contract role leads a large transport operation, reporting to the Head of Transport Operations, with responsibility for TJX and Multiuser customers.

You will manage a team of operational managers, ensure safety, compliance and cost-effective transport services, and maintain strong customer relationships and high service standards.

Qualifications

• Proven management experience in fast-paced logistics, transport or supply chain.
• Strong leadership to coach, motivate and develop large teams.
• Knowledge of transport legislation, fleet compliance and health and safety.
• Experience interpreting KPIs and implementing practical solutions to improve service and efficiency.
• International Managers CPC qualification is advantageous.

• Manage the end-to-end transport operation ensuring plans are delivered safely, legally and cost-effectively.
• Build strong relationships with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders for clear communication.
• Ensure full compliance with transport legislation, fleet maintenance, Drivers' Hours and Working Time Directive.
• Drive continuous improvement across safety, service, cost and operational efficiency while monitoring KPIs and fleet utilisation.

Here at GXO, we're recruiting for a Transport Manager to join our GXO Direct operation in Sherburn-in-Elmet. This is a full-time, fixed-term role on a 3 month contract, working Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 17:0 0 where you'll take responsibility for a large transport operation supporting both TJX and Multiuser customers. Reporting to the Head of Transport Operations, you'll lead a team of operational managers and support colleagues to ensure safe, compliant and cost-effective transport services are delivered while maintaining excellent customer relationships and high service standards.

What you’ll do on a typical day:

• Lead and develop a large transport team, creating a positive culture focused on engagement, accountability, communication and high performance across all levels of the operation
• Manage the end-to-end transport operation, ensuring transport plans are delivered safely, legally and cost-effectively while maintaining high levels of service for both TJX and Multiuser customers
• Build strong relationships with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders, ensuring operational issues are resolved quickly and communication remains clear and effective
• Ensure full compliance with transport legislation, fleet maintenance requirements, Drivers' Hours regulations, Working Time Directive requirements and all relevant company policies and procedures
• Drive continuous improvement across safety, service, cost and operational efficiency while monitoring KPIs, fleet utilisation and delivery performance to identify opportunities for improvement

What you need to succeed at GXO:

• Proven management experience within a fast-paced logistics, transport or supply chain environment
• Strong leadership capability, with experience coaching, motivating and developing large teams while managing performance effectively
• Sound knowledge of transport legislation, fleet compliance and industry best practice, with a strong focus on health and safety
• Experience interpreting KPIs, analysing operational performance and implementing practical solutions to improve service and efficiency
• International Managers CPC qualification together with knowledge of transport systems such as Tachomaster, Accsend, GTS and EPod would be highly advantageous
