Transport Manager Position at Sunlit Transport Ltd
Sunlit Transport Ltd, a leading Road Transport Company, is seeking a dedicated and ambitious Transport Manager. We require an experienced and organized professional, preferably with background as a Transport Administrator, to coordinate the delivery of goods within the UK. Strong administrative skills are essential for this role.
Responsibilities include:
- Management: Oversee transport operations and manage transport staff including administrators and clerks.
- Client Liaison: Communicate with clients regarding deliveries and invoices.
- Route Planning: Develop and optimize transportation routes for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Dispatch Coordination: Coordinate with drivers and dispatchers to ensure timely deliveries with clear communication.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate shipment, invoice, and operational records.
- Customer Service: Address inquiries, resolve issues, and maintain strong client relationships.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure adherence to safety regulations, including vehicle inspections and driver logs.
- Inventory Management: Oversee warehouse and inventory accuracy.
- Reporting: Generate reports on transportation metrics and KPIs.
- Team Leadership: Supervise drivers and foster a collaborative work environment.
- Office Operations: Manage day-to-day office functions including procurement and vendor relationships.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement efficiency enhancements.
Major Duties:
- Deliver high-quality transportation solutions.
- Coordinate extensively with customers and suppliers.
- Ensure transportation activities meet customer service standards.
- Track shipments and provide updates to customers.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Communicate with shippers and suppliers to optimize container utilization.
Candidate Requirements:
- Previous experience in a transport department.
- Knowledge of transport compliance for vehicles and drivers.
- Familiarity with fleet and transport management systems.
- Proficiency in route planning tools such as Descartes.
- Understanding of warehouse, fleet, and transport operations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- Negotiation skills and experience managing third-party vendors.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Customer service orientation and adaptability.
