Job summary

Holcim UK is seeking an experienced Transport Manager to lead fleet operations across four regional sites, including Bardon Hill, Cauldon, Croft and Peterborough. You will oversee a team of around 30 drivers and a ~20-vehicle fleet, ensuring compliance with UK transport legislation and operator licensing.

You will drive safety, performance and cost efficiency, manage third-party haulage and franchise partners, and promote a proactive health and safety culture as part of a large, supportive team.

Qualifications

• Transport Manager CPC (Road Haulage) qualification.
• Proven experience in transport management, logistics or heavy fleet operations.
• Experience managing company drivers and third-party haulage or franchise operators.
• Knowledge of UK Operator Licensing, driver hours, tachographs and vehicle maintenance compliance.
• Strong communication, organisational and people-management skills.
• A proactive approach to health, safety, compliance and continuous improvement

Responsibilities

• Lead transport operations for Aggregates and Asphalt across Bardon Hill and four regional sites.
• Ensure UK transport legislation compliance and Operator Licence adherence.

The Opportunity

Are you an experienced transport professional with a passion for fleet management, compliance and team leadership?

Holcim UK is looking for a proactive and driven Transport Manager to lead transport operations across our Aggregates and Asphalt business based out of Bardon Hill

This is a key leadership role with responsibility for the legal compliance, safety, performance and efficiency of our transport operations across four regional locations. You’ll lead a team of around 30 company drivers, manage a diverse fleet of around 20 vehicles and oversee third-party haulage and franchise partners, ensuring our operations consistently meet the highest standards.

As Transport Manager, you will take ownership of our fleet operations, ensuring full compliance with UK transport legislation and Operator Licence requirements while delivering safe, reliable and efficient transport services.

Key Responsibilities:

• Fleet Compliance, Safety & Maintenance: Take responsibility for transport compliance, ensuring adherence to UK legislation, Operator Licence requirements, driver hours and vehicle maintenance standards. Oversee the safety, servicing and maintenance of a diverse fleet of 20 vehicles across all sites.




• Driver & Team Leadership: Lead and develop a team of 30 drivers, promoting a strong safety culture while overseeing training, performance, fuel efficiency and tachograph compliance.




• Third-Party & Franchise Management: Manage relationships with franchise operators and external haulage providers, ensuring high service standards, regulatory compliance and adherence to Holcim UK’s site safety policies.




• Multi-Site Transport Operations: Coordinate transport and logistics across Bardon, Cauldon, Croft and Peterborough, driving operational efficiency, improving vehicle turnaround times and ensuring reliable, customer-focused deliveries.




• You’ll be a confident and organised transport professional who combines strong leadership skills with a thorough understanding of fleet compliance and transport legislation.

You will have:

• A Transport Manager CPC (Road Haulage) qualification




• A valid UK driving licence




• Proven experience in transport management, logistics or heavy fleet operations




• Experience managing company drivers and third-party haulage or franchise operators




• Knowledge of UK Operator Licensing, driver hours, tachographs and vehicle maintenance compliance




• Strong communication, organisational and people-management skills




• A proactive approach to health, safety, compliance and continuous improvement




• The ability to manage multiple sites, competing priorities and external supplier relationships effectively
