Job summary

Jewson is seeking a Transport Allocator for our Wimborne site. The role coordinates the day-to-day delivery network, ensuring orders are delivered safely, efficiently and cost-effectively, while maximising vehicle capacity and maintaining compliance.

Qualifications

• Experience in transport planning or logistics coordination.
• Strong route planning capabilities and geographic awareness.
• Understanding of transport legislation and operator licence requirements.
• Excellent organisational skills to prioritise in a fast-paced environment.
• Good problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Ability to build relationships across multiple functions.
• Clear verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Allocate and plan deliveries to meet service levels.
• Maximise fleet utilisation and delivery capacity.
• Collaborate with branches to understand requirements and priorities.
• Identify and resolve delivery issues before they affect customers.
• Support OTIF targets and reporting of KPIs.
• Communicate with drivers and branches for smooth operations.
• Create efficient daily delivery schedules and allocations.
• Plan inter-branch transfers cost-effectively.
• Monitor fleet capacity and suggest utilisation improvements.
• Support continuous improvement in delivery performance.
• Analyse failed or delayed deliveries and recommend corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with Operator Licence and transport legislation.
• Maintain accurate records for audits.
• Collaborate with neighbouring teams to optimise resources.
• Maintain transport system data and reporting accuracy.
• Assist with planning analysis and network optimisation.
• Complete transport documentation accurately and on time.
