About the role…
The good news is that our continued success and business growth has opened up an exciting opportunity for an experienced, driven, and enthusiastic Health and Safety Manager to join our successful team at our Screwfix contract in Stafford, with occasional travel to sister sites. This is a critical role to manage health and safety within the Transport department.
Shift pattern: 08:00 - 16:00 Monday-Friday (contract any 5 from 7)
What you will contribute…
- You will manage the health and safety function for Transport, including supervision of staff to ensure delivery of objectives.
- Your responsibilities will include ensuring a safe working environment for employees and visitors on site, and ensuring the depot complies with health and safety legal requirements and company policies.
- Proactively leading, you will ensure collaborative health and safety projects, both at site and supporting Wincanton group initiatives.
- You will provide authoritative advice and guidance on health & safety matters to all stakeholders within your area of responsibility.
- By reviewing and auditing health & safety arrangements, you will continuously improve these arrangements where appropriate.
- You will develop strategies to plan and organize work systems to reduce health & safety risks and recommend suitable adaptations to equipment, practices, and processes.
- Ensure robust reporting regimes are in place for H&S statistics and provide management information and statistics for internal and external stakeholders.
- Drive a behavioural culture change program across a large, growing, multi-shift operation.
- Responsible for ensuring all site risk assessments are refreshed and that all training conducted at the site complies with legislative requirements and company best practices.
- Ensure the site management team is fully equipped to conduct and investigate all accidents and incidents and make proactive changes to site working practices where needed.
What you will bring…
- Qualified to NEBOSH certificate level or equivalent with relevant H&S Management experience, preferably in a retail / supply chain warehouse environment.
- Excellent team building, leadership, and motivational skills.
- Ability to communicate and influence openly and honestly with individuals at all levels within the organization.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills – results-focused with good organizational and analytical skills.
- Up-to-date knowledge of essential UK H&S legislation.
- Influencing skills and strategies to build buy-in for change.
