About the role…

Our continued success and business growth have created an exciting opportunity for an experienced, driven, and enthusiastic Health and Safety Manager to join our team at our Screwfix contract in Stafford, with occasional travel to sister sites. This is a key role responsible for managing health and safety within the Transport department.

Shift pattern: 08:00 - 16:00, Monday to Friday (contract any 5 from 7)

What you will contribute…

  • Manage the health and safety function for Transport, including supervising staff to ensure objectives are met.
  • Ensure a safe working environment for employees and visitors, complying with legal requirements and company policies.
  • Lead and support collaborative health and safety projects at site and group levels.
  • Provide authoritative advice and guidance on health & safety matters to stakeholders.
  • Review and audit health & safety arrangements, implementing improvements where needed.
  • Develop strategies to reduce risks, including equipment, practices, and processes.
  • Maintain robust reporting systems for health & safety statistics and management information.
  • Promote behavioural change programs across a large, multi-shift operation.
  • Ensure site risk assessments are current and training complies with legislative and best practice standards.
  • Equip management to investigate incidents and implement proactive changes.

What you will bring…

  • NEBOSH certificate or equivalent qualification, with relevant H&S management experience, preferably in retail or supply chain warehouse environments.
  • Strong leadership, team-building, and motivational skills.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills to engage at all organizational levels.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of UK H&S legislation.
  • Ability to influence change and drive significant improvements.
