  • Manage the strategic deployment of drivers, tractor units, trailers, and operational resources to meet business and customer demands.
  • Oversee the successful movement of parcels through the primary network during peak periods and manage significant B2C collection volumes.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Transport Shift Managers and operational teams, creating a high-performing culture.
  • Drive fuel efficiency and operational performance through effective use of transport management systems and vehicle telemetry tools.
  • Develop and deliver annual and peak operational plans, ensuring capacity, resource, and contingency requirements are met.
  • Ensure compliance with all transport legislation, health & safety requirements, and company standards.
  • Analyse operational performance, identify root causes of KPI failures, and implement effective improvement plans.
  • Collaborate with commercial teams to support the successful onboarding of new clients and maximise profitability.
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external customers to deliver exceptional service.
What We're Looking For

  • Strong understanding of transport operations, compliance, and industry best practice.
  • Experience leading large operational teams through high-volume and peak trading periods.
  • Proven track record of delivering operational performance and cost efficiencies.
  • Experience using transport management systems and vehicle telematics.
  • Ability to produce and present detailed operational reports and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Experience working cross-functionally across operations, finance, HR, commercial, and customer-facing teams.
Skills & Attributes
  • Strong leadership and people development capability.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, including at senior leadership level.
  • Commercially astute with an ability to balance service, compliance, and cost.
  • Highly organised with strong planning and project management skills.
  • Data-driven decision-maker with excellent problem-solving abilities.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, changing environment.
