Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking dedicated Transport Drivers to provide light goods delivery and passenger transport services across Hampshire. Successful candidates will drive modern vans and minibuses, supporting healthcare operations with a commitment to high-quality service and patient care. Join a team that values initiative and fosters a culture of improvement and belonging, while enjoying a varied work pattern of 37.5 hours per week, with occasional weekend shifts.
Hampshire Hospitals NHS Trust employs a dedicated team of B and D1 category drivers providing light goods delivery and staff passenger transport services using a modern fleet of vans and minibuses between major Hampshire hospitals and the wider healthcare community.
A full UK Driver Licence with B category entitlement is essential, held for a minimum of 2 years. D1 minibus category is also desirable.
The Transport Driver team supports the Trust in providing a high level of care to patients and staff. Responsibilities include delivering and collecting pharmaceuticals, laboratory specimens, letter post, and parcel post within Winchester, Basingstoke, Andover, and surrounding areas, between hospitals, local surgeries, and medical practitioners. Drivers may also deliver miscellaneous items such as medical supplies and essential equipment.
Members of the Transport Driver Team also provide NHS staff shuttle transfers between Basingstoke and Winchester using a 16-passenger minibus.
Supported by a small team, drivers receive work instructions from the Transport Coordinator and work independently, using their initiative while delivering friendly and efficient service. Over time, drivers will become familiar with various collection and delivery routes across Hampshire.
We are seeking staff committed to a varied work pattern based on 37.5 hours per week, including occasional weekend work (with enhanced pay).
Our vision is to provide outstanding care for every patient at our three sites: Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital, Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester, and Andover War Memorial Hospital. Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust serves approximately 600,000 people across Hampshire and parts of West Berkshire.
Our cultural ambition is to foster a culture where people are at the heart of everything we do, where everyone belongs, and where learning, improvement, and excellence thrive.
We provide specialist services nationally and internationally. Notably, we are one of only two UK centers treating pseudomyxoma peritonei, a rare abdominal cancer, and are leaders in tertiary liver and colorectal cancer treatments.
The trust employs over 9,000 staff, with an annual turnover exceeding £500 million. As a Foundation Trust, we are accountable to our members through governors, who represent their constituencies and influence the trust's future plans.
