North Somerset Council is seeking a Transport Planning Officer focused on transport decarbonisation and behaviour change within our Transport Policy Team. The role develops evidence-based strategies and programmes that promote safer, healthier and more sustainable travel while supporting communities and economic growth.

The post involves embedding carbon assessment, influencing cross‑party workstreams and delivering engagement activities to reduce emissions and encourage active travel.

Formación

• Knowledge of the UK's decarbonisation commitments at local and national levels.
• Experience applying monitoring and evaluation best-practice.
• Understanding barriers to sustainable travel, including active travel and public transport.
• Ability to work within a project framework and achieve milestones.
• Experience engaging with stakeholders and external organisations.

Responsabilidades

• Finalise and publish the Cleaner, Healthier Travel document.
• Embed DfT-backed carbon assessment within the transport work programme.
• Review decarbonisation, behaviour change and engagement workstreams.
• Coordinate cross-party Ward Member Working Group for community engagement.
• Support behaviour change activity alongside active travel infrastructure.
• Support delivery of community transport volunteer recruitment campaign.
