The role

As a Transport Controller Supervisor, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will be carrying out essential driving duties with precision and professionalism whilst fully compliant with Road Traffic Legislation, Road Transport Law, and Service Publications.

Day-to-day responsibilities
  • Plan and forecast transport requirements up to 14 days ahead, aligning complex customer needs with available drivers and resources.
  • Supervise and manage driver hours daily, ensuring compliance with Road Transport Law and Service Publications.
  • Issue vehicles and documentation to customers and internal drivers, following all policies and service directions.
  • Process vehicle faults and breakdowns promptly, adhering to policy and notifying relevant authorities.
  • Prioritise operational tasks at short notice, maintaining flexibility and responsiveness.

This role is full time working 38.5 hours per week and is based on site at RAF Northolt.

Essential experience
  • Proven experience in planning transport routes and allocating drivers to tasks.
  • Strong knowledge of EU driving hours legislation, ensuring full compliance.
  • Supervisory experience within a Mechanical Transport department.
  • Previous MOD Mechanical Transport experience (desirable).
Qualifications
  • Time-served background in the transport industry or MOD.
  • Full, clean UK driving licence with categories B, C, and D, plus Digital Card and DCPC Qualification Card.
  • Experience in planning daily operational rosters (desirable).

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) / Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
