Job summary

JAMA Logistics in Manchester is seeking a Transport Controller to build and run a profitable daily transport plan across our fleet. This hands-on role involves managing vehicles, drivers, customers, live issues, route decisions, margins and service.

You will work closely with the Operations Manager to improve how the transport department operates and to develop into a future transport leader. Experience in UK transport operations/planning is expected; formal qualifications are useful, but

Qualifications

• Experience in UK transport operations/planning is expected.
• Attitude, judgement, ownership and potential matter as much as formal qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Plan and control vehicles and drivers throughout the day.
• Replan when the day changes and solve problems before they escape.
• Speak confidently with customers and drivers.
• Protect margin, reduce empty mileage and use subcontractors intelligently.
• Capture additional charges and keep operational data accurate.
• Work closely with the Operations Manager to improve how the transport department operates.
• Experience in UK transport operations/planning is expected. Formal qualifications are useful, but attitude, judgement, ownership and potential matter just as much.
