Job summary

Cast UK Limited is seeking a Transport & Logistics Coordinator to oversee the outbound logistics operation, plan transport, optimise loads and maintain haulier relationships to ensure on-time delivery at optimal costs.

You will work closely with production, warehouse, sales, projects and purchasing to keep the supply chain moving and costs under control, while supporting ERP systems and documentation.

Qualifications

  • Experience in transport coordination or logistics planning.
  • Experience managing hauliers and coordinating multiple deliveries.
  • Understanding load planning, vehicle utilisation and transport costs.
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage changing priorities.
  • Strong communication with hauliers, customers, site teams and stakeholders.
  • Experience with ERP/TMS and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Manage relationships with hauliers to ensure reliable service and cost control.
  • Plan outbound loads, maximise vehicle utilisation and consolidate deliveries.
  • Arrange collections and deliveries across multiple destinations.
  • Allocate transport based on route, load, availability and cost.
  • Monitor haulier performance with reports.
  • Coordinate despatch schedules with production to meet deadlines.
  • Liaise with warehouse and production to ensure goods are ready for collection.
  • Communicate delivery ETAs and manage delays or changes.
  • Ensure transport and despatch documentation is accurate and complete.
  • Monitor haulage costs against budget and identify savings opportunities.
  • Manage proof of delivery docs and resolve transport discrepancies.
  • Support Microsoft Business Central use across logistics.

Transport & Logistics Coordinator
Location: Skelmersdale, Lancashire
Salary: GBP30,000 - GBP35,000 per annum DOE
The Role

Cast UK are delighted to be working in partnership with a leading UK manufacturer as they look to appoint a Transport & Logistics Coordinator to join their growing operation.

This is a key role within the business, responsible for coordinating the outbound logistics operation, taking ownership of transport planning, haulier relationships, load optimisation and delivery coordination, ensuring products reach customers and construction sites on time and at the right cost.

The successful candidate will play a central role in ensuring the smooth running of the transport operation, working closely with production, warehouse, sales, projects and purchasing teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage relationships with an established panel of hauliers, ensuring reliable service and competitive costs.
  • Plan and coordinate outbound loads, maximising vehicle utilisation and consolidating deliveries where possible.
  • Arrange collections and deliveries across multiple destinations.
  • Allocate transport based on route, load requirements, availability and cost.
  • Monitor haulier performance with reports.
  • Coordinate despatch schedules with production to ensure customer deadlines are met.
  • Liaise with warehouse and production teams to ensure goods are ready for collection.
  • Communicate delivery ETAs and proactively manage any delays or changes.
  • Ensure all transport and despatch documentation is accurate and complete.
  • Monitor haulage costs against budget and identify opportunities for cost savings.
  • Manage proof of delivery documentation and support the resolution of transport claims or discrepancies.
  • Support the implementation and ongoing use of Microsoft Business Central across the logistics function.
Key experience & Skills:
  • Previous experience within transport coordination, transport planning or logistics planning.
  • Experience managing hauliers and coordinating multiple deliveries.
  • A strong understanding of load planning, vehicle utilisation and transport costs.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage changing priorities.
  • Strong communication skills, with the confidence to deal with hauliers, customers, site teams and internal stakeholders.
  • Good knowledge of transport documentation and despatch processes.
  • Experience using ERP, TMS or similar logistics systems, alongside Microsoft Office.
