Job summary

The University of Birmingham invites applications for up to three BHP Clinician-Scientist positions based in Birmingham, UK. These fixed-term posts (up to 5 years) offer a 50:50 split between clinical service and academic activity with paths to intermediate fellowships or permanent clinical academic contracts.

Applicants should be medically qualified, hold a PhD or MD, and have or be eligible for GMC registration.

Qualifications

• PhD or MD required for clinical academics.
• Full or conditional GMC registration must be current.
• Completion of specialist training or UK equivalent.
• Proven track record in clinical research and translational activity.

Responsibilities

• Lead clinical service development within a partner NHS Trust.
• Conduct and supervise high-impact translational research.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver patient care.
• Support development of junior researchers and fellows.
• Ensure compliance with clinical governance and ethics.
