Job Description:

Vacancy Information

Are you a successful, professional PIP2 accredited Detective Sergeant? Do you thrive on managing investigations from start to finish and enjoy the ownership and satisfaction of seeing a job through to the very end? Do you enjoy leading your team and giving them direction and investigative momentum by your evidenced leadership? You will be used to prioritising workloads and risk by an expert application of the national decision making model.

We’re looking for experienced and committed transferee DS investigators to form part of our exciting policing model and be at the very heart of some of our most serious and high-profile investigations. We currently have vacancies across Reigate, Guildford, and Staines, which host local CID, Child abuse teams, Domestic abuse teams, and a force-wide Sexual Offences Investigation Team.

This is a well-trodden path, with recent transferees coming from forces such as MPS, West Mids Police, TVP, and Hampshire.

Transferees will, after 18 months, be able to apply for other specialist opportunities within Surrey Police, such as roles in the joint Major Crime Team, Serious and Organised Crime Teams, Complex Abuse Unit, and Paedophile Online Investigation Team.

Chief Constables' Message

We welcome your interest in joining Surrey Police. It is a privilege to lead the teams who work tirelessly to keep our counties safe.

We seek talented, inspirational individuals who prioritize public needs and want to make a difference. We look forward to your application.

Why Choose Surrey?

Proximity to London and major motorways exposes our investigation teams to diverse criminality. As part of our force family, you'll be valued, trusted, and supported to grow professionally and personally, with opportunities for specialization and progression.

Surrey offers a high quality of life, with beautiful countryside, vibrant towns, and close proximity to London, the south coast, and international airports.

Benefits include healthcare, gym classes, flexible working, discounts, and leisure benefits such as free or discounted travel. The Regional allowance is £3000 annually, with additional allowances for fuel (£76.67/month) and specific detective roles (£850/year, with an extra £500/year for certain specialized teams).

  • Be a serving police officer in a Home Office Force
  • Pass vetting, health, and fitness checks post-interview
