Job summary

Veolia in Rochester is seeking a Transfer Station Operative to join our waste management team. You will operate front loading shovel and 360 excavator after training, load vehicles, monitor weights, manage site movements, and liaise with contractors and haulage staff.

The role requires a Full UK driving licence and Mobile Plant licence (loading shovel or 360 excavator). The position is full-time, Monday to Friday with some bank holiday work and a salary of £30,000 per year, plus Veolia benefits.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a similar operational environment.
• Mobile Plant licence (loading shovel or 360 excavator).
• Full UK driving licence is required.

Responsibilities

• Operate the Front Loading Shovel and 360-degree Excavator to transport waste safely after training.
• Carry out routine maintenance and cleaning of mobile plant and equipment, including oils and water checks and report defects.
• Liaise with site personnel, contractors, tipping authorities and haulage team.
• Ensure outgoing weights of material are maximised.
• Load vehicles with waste.
• Control vehicle movements on site.
• Operate the weighbridge.
