Job summary

Cory is seeking an experienced Transfer Station Manager to lead the safe, compliant operation of the Smugglers Way Transfer Station in London.

You will manage staff, ensure regulatory compliance, drive performance against KPIs, and work with regulatory bodies and clients to deliver a high-quality service in a fast-paced environment.

This role requires a hands‑on manager capable of balancing operational demands with safety, commercial awareness and people leadership.

Qualifications

• Experience managing a waste transfer facility or similar operational environment.
• Strong leadership and people management experience.
• Experience operating in a safety‑critical environment.
• Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and best practices.
• Experience conducting incident investigations and implementing corrective actions.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong organisational and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced setting.

Responsibilities

• Lead, motivate and develop supervisory and operations staff across the transfer station.
• Ensure a safety‑first culture and staff competence.
• Oversee workforce planning, recruitment, induction and training.
• Maintain compliance with health, safety, and environmental permits.
• Monitor throughput, efficiency and site performance against KPIs.
• Coordinate with clients, regulators and contractors to meet service standards.
• Investigate incidents and drive corrective actions and continuous improvement.
• Manage contractor activities and asset maintenance communications.
