NHS England, working in the East Midlands, is seeking to recruit a Training Programme Director (TPD) for Paediatrics on a part-time secondment basis.
As Training Programme Director, you will be responsible for coordinating the training across the region. You will ensure that national standards, determined by Royal Colleges, the GMC and NHS-E WT&E are implemented locally. Applicants must be currently working within the East Midlands area at consultant level or equivalent including SAS doctors in the specialty school area. Experience within the specialty at consultant or SAS doctor level is essential as is considerable experience of working with learners or doctors in training in an educational context.
As part of a national system, please note that a flat rate of £10,000 per PA, per year, (or pro rata as necessary) will be paid to a Trust for successful candidates appointed to TPD roles. This should be treated as a contribution towards the overall cost and is not a reflection of the individual’s pay.
The Training Programme Director is professionally and managerially accountable to the Head of School. The role focuses on improving learner supervision, assessment, engagement of faculty, and ensuring effective educational outcomes. The role also involves whole workforce transformation and developing multi-professional links.
To support the Postgraduate Dean, Training Programme Directors will work across health and social care sectors within a team, reflecting changing service models, to deliver an integrated workforce from diverse professional backgrounds.
The post is offered on a secondment basis. Candidates must secure written employer approval for release from clinical duties for the specified PAs.
