Job description

If you take pride in training staff to deliver nothing less than great healthcare, then Jacobs and Gardens, a neurological care centre in Sawbridgeworth, is looking for a Training Lead to coordinate and support the delivery of induction, mandatory, and ad-hoc training.

As the Training Lead, you will act as the lead facilitator for mandatory, manual, and additional training, and will work with the learning and development centre to ensure all programmes are delivered in line with practical guidelines and maintain compliance.

What you will be doing

Working 37.5 hours a week alongside the Practice Development Nurse, you will provide high-quality classroom-based training, on-ward coaching, and support for Management of Violence and Aggression (MVA) training, as well as clinical skills training. This will involve planning and reviewing the training and development for the MVA and breakaway programmes, as well as developing clinical skills-based training.

You will be responsible for coaching, advising, and guiding new staff, tutors, and existing teams on their MVA, manual handling, and basic life support (BLS) development and training.

As a Training Lead you will be:

  • Supervising the holistic approach/practice locally of the safe and therapeutic management of violence and aggression, basic life support, manual handling, and other mandatory training, as well as specific clinical skills.
  • Assisting ward-based staff in delivering high-quality MVA practice strategies.
  • Supporting the development of care plans across the site regarding manual handling and MVA.
  • Acting as a resource to the clinical team regarding manual handling and any assessments and concerns.
  • Ensuring safe practice that mitigates risk and enhances therapeutic relationships.
  • Leading on the delivery of Basic Life Support training across the site.
  • Delivering prepared clinical skills training and assessing competence.
  • Carrying out relevant audits for training relating to evaluation and assessment data.
  • Coordinating mandatory training monthly to ensure compliance is maintained month on month.

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • Knowledge about challenging behaviours, violence and aggression, and undertaking manual handling within a specialist neuro area and/or healthcare setting.
  • Experience in delivering high-quality training sessions.
  • Demonstrated excellent coaching and teaching skills.
  • A minimum of 2 years of clinical experience working within a neurological setting where individuals exhibited challenging behaviour.
  • Evidence of clinically based credibility and/or qualification by experience or completion of a relevant health/social care or management certificate (Nursing, NVQ, or other).
  • Evidence of/or information to support working towards a nationally recognised level 3 further education and teaching/training certificate/award (Level 3 teaching qualification-EAT).
  • A willingness to undertake the nationally recognised GSA Tutor (A-Grade) qualification, First Aid Certificate (3 Days), Manual Handling, and Basic Life Support train the trainer as a minimum.

Location: Gardens and Jacobs, Sawbridgeworth CM21 0HH

You will be working alongside the clinical teams at Jacobs and Gardens to care for people with neurological illnesses, acquired brain and spinal cord injuries, where you will deliver person-centred care with each individual at the heart of everything you do.

This specialist inpatient neurological rehabilitation and complex care service boasts extensive facilities that cater to the specific needs of the residents and is set in Sawbridgeworth.
