Job summary

Ipsum is seeking a skilled Training Engineer in Ilkeston to design, deliver, and evaluate training for engineers and technicians specializing in automation and control systems.

You will develop materials, train on PLC/SCADA/HMI technologies, and assess trainee competency while collaborating with engineering teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, automation, mechatronics, or related field.
  • Proven experience with industrial automation systems and strong understanding of control logic, instrumentation, industrial networking, and communication protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver training programs on automation control systems, including PLCs, SCADA, HMIs, and related technologies.
  • Create training materials such as manuals, presentations, and hands-on exercises tailored to different skill levels.
  • Train on industrial network communication and protocols, including Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus, Profinet, and TCP/IP.
  • Assess trainee performance and provide feedback to ensure competency in system operation and troubleshooting.

About the role…

We are seeking a skilled Technical Trainer with expertise in automation and control systems to design, deliver, and evaluate training programs for our engineers and technicians. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge of industrial automation technologies, network communication, and protocols, along with excellent communication skills to translate complex concepts into practical learning experiences.

As a Training Engineeryou will…

About you…

Have a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, or related field. Proven experience with industrial automation systems (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Schneider, etc.) Strong understanding of control logic, instrumentation, industrial networking, and communication protocols.
