About The Role

The London Borough of Hounslow are seeking to recruit a Training and Development Manager to join us on a permanent, full-time basis, working 36 hours per week.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced safeguarding professional who is passionate about developing high-quality practice and improving outcomes for children, young people and families. Working closely with the Principal Social Worker, you will lead the commissioning, coordination, delivery and evaluation of safeguarding training across Children's Specialist Services.

As the strategic lead for safeguarding learning and development, you will identify workforce development needs, design and implement innovative training solutions, and ensure that learning opportunities reflect current legislation, research, national developments and learning from local and national reviews.

You will play a key role in driving practice improvement across Children's Services, supporting a culture of continuous learning and professional curiosity. Working collaboratively with senior leaders, practitioners and partner agencies, you will help shape and deliver our workforce development priorities while ensuring commissioned training provides excellent value for money and delivers measurable impact.

This role offers the opportunity to influence practice across the whole children's workforce, develop innovative approaches to learning and development, and make a lasting contribution to safeguarding outcomes across Hounslow.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead the commissioning, coordination and evaluation of the interagency safeguarding training programme for Children's Specialist Services and partner agencies.
  2. Identify learning and development needs across the workforce and ensure these are met through innovative, high-quality training solutions.
  3. Deliver and commission safeguarding training that reflects current legislation, research, best practice and learning from reviews.
  4. Support the management of the workforce development budget, ensuring value for money and effective use of resources.
  5. Develop collaborative working across agencies and contribute to strategic workforce development priorities within the Hounslow Safeguarding Children's Partnership.
  6. Provide expert advice, guidance and support on safeguarding training and workforce development to managers and practitioners.
  7. Facilitate and deliver in-house training and coordinate specialist practice expertise across the service.

About The Team You’ll Be Working In

You will be working in Safeguarding & Quality Assurance under the Workforce Development Team, collaborating with Hounslow Safeguarding Partnership. The primary focus is on building the knowledge and skills of our workforce, leading to provision of safe and high-level interventions with children, young people, and families. About You

  1. Ability to provide high quality, reflective, analytical, and evidence-based training to develop practice to the highest professional standards to achieve excellent outcomes with and for children, young people and their families.
  2. Ability to demonstrate professional thinking and research skills in children's safeguarding and care and to implement this across the service.
  3. Ability to manage resources within budgetary constraints, securing best value and cost effectiveness.
  4. Ability to analyse information from a range of quality assurance mechanisms including performance data and audits, producing reports of a high quality for HSCB and senior managers.

Experience of social work practice, safeguarding, learning and development, workforce development or professional standards environments will be highly valued.
