Job summary

Morgan Sindall Infrastructure is seeking a Trainer (Protecting People) to help embed a positive safety culture across the Defence Infrastructure Organisation framework. You will design and deliver engaging SHEQS training, manage the Positive Intervention process, and collaborate with teams and supply chain partners to raise standards and wellbeing.

Qualifications

  • Experience delivering training programmes.
  • Train the Trainer qualification or equivalent.
  • GCSEs Maths and English.
  • IOSH qualification.
  • Interest in promoting positive safety behaviours and workforce wellbeing.
  • Mental Health First Aid willingness.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver internal SHEQS training to employees and supply chain partners.
  • Lead the Positive Intervention process and manage records.
  • Provide feedback to personnel and drive behavioural safety improvements.
  • Promote safety culture through engagement, coaching, and awareness.
  • Support development of behaviour-based safety campaigns and workforce engagement.
  • Identify training requirements with project teams and ensure objectives are met.
  • Maintain training records and monitor competency across the framework.
  • Produce reports and management information on training and wellbeing initiatives.
  • Support mental health initiatives and liaise with external support organisations.
  • Assist the SHEQS team to deliver business objectives.

Trainer (Protecting People)

Morgan Sindall Infrastructure delivers some of the UK’s most complex and critical infrastructure projects across six core sectors. We are looking for a Trainer (Protecting People) to join our team supporting the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) Construction Capability Framework (CCF). This is an exciting opportunity to help drive and embed a positive safety culture across a high‑profile infrastructure framework. Reporting to the Head of SHEQS, you will lead the delivery of engaging training programmes, manage the Positive Intervention process, and support initiatives that promote safety, wellbeing, and workforce engagement across both our teams and supply chain partners. This role would suit an enthusiastic and people‑focused individual with a passion for training, health and safety, and continuous improvement, who is looking to further develop their career within a supportive and progressive organisation.

Role Responsibilities
  • Deliver internal SHEQS training programmes to employees and supply chain partners, promoting exacting standards of safety, quality, and compliance.
  • Take ownership of the Positive Intervention process, ensuring interventions are recorded, reviewed, and acted upon effectively.
  • Provide feedback and support to personnel on issues raised through the Positive Intervention process, helping to drive continuous improvement and behavioural safety.
  • Promote a positive, initiative‑taking safety culture across the framework through engagement, coaching, and awareness initiatives.
  • Support the development and implementation of behaviour‑based safety campaigns and workforce engagement activities.
  • Consult with project teams and stakeholders to identify training requirements and ensure training objectives are met.
  • Maintain accurate training records and monitor competency requirements across the framework.
  • Produce reports and management information relating to training, workforce engagement, and Positive Interventions.
  • Support mental health and wellbeing initiatives, including engagement with external support organisations and internal wellbeing networks.
  • Assist the wider SHEQS team in the delivery of business objectives and continuous improvement activities.
Skills, Experience And Qualifications
  • Experience delivering internal and/or external training programmes.
  • Train the Trainer qualification or equivalent training delivery experience.
  • Strong presentation, communication, and people skills.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to engage and influence people at all levels of the organisation.
  • Experience of coordinating activities, managing records, and producing reports.
  • GCSEs (or equivalent), including Maths and English.
  • A genuine interest in promoting positive safety behaviours and workforce wellbeing.
  • IOSH qualification.
  • Experience working within construction, engineering, infrastructure, utilities, defence, or a related sector.
  • Knowledge of Safety, Health, Environment, Quality and Sustainability (SHEQS) principles and practices.
  • Experience supporting behavioural safety programmes or workforce engagement initiatives.
  • Understanding of mental health and wellbeing support programmes in the workplace.
  • Mental Health First Aid qualification or willingness to work towards one.
  • Enthusiastic, engaging, and confident in delivering training to diverse audiences.
  • Enthusiastic about creating a positive and inclusive safety culture.
  • Initiative‑taking and self‑motivated, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organisational skills and diligence.
  • Approachable, supportive, and committed to helping others succeed.
  • Committed to continuous improvement and promoting safe, healthy, and sustainable working practices.
