Job summary

Kirklees Council is looking for a Trainer Assessor – Engineering (Mechanical & Electrical) to guide apprentices at the Engineering Centre. You will provide training, support, and conduct assessments, ensuring apprentices reach their goals while maintaining strong employer relationships.

The ideal candidate will have relevant industry qualifications, experience with apprenticeship programs, and strong communication and time-management skills. The role offers opportunities for professional development and a commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.

Job Title: Trainer Assessor – Engineering (Mechanical & Electrical)

Salary: £36,020 – 41,746

Location: Engineering Centre

Hours and Weeks per Year: 37 hours / 52 weeks

Application Deadline: 16/07/2026

Job Summary: In this role you will provide training, support and guidance to learners who are working towards completing their apprenticeships, predominantly based at the Engineering Centre.

Responsibilities
  • Guide apprentices through the learning journey from sign up to completion, assessing progress to KSBs and setting work‑based smart targets.
  • Support apprentices to prepare for End Point Assessments (EPAs) and conduct work‑based reviews at employers’ sites.
  • Maintain successful relationships with employers and liaise with them as needed.
  • Report any safeguarding concerns relating to your caseload of learners, whether in or out of college.
Qualifications
  • Relevant qualification in the industry or demonstrable equivalent ability.
  • Experience supporting apprenticeship programmes.
  • Strong time‑management, prioritisation and communication skills.
  • Ability to engage with young people and demonstrate college values of Kindness, Unity and Excellence.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
