Job summary
Warwickshire College is seeking a Trainer Assessor in Electrical Construction based at our Royal Leamington Spa College. The role involves liaising with employers and learners to assess competencies in the workplace and deliver high-quality vocational assessment.
You will be responsible for coordinating work placements, guiding learners through course choices, and promoting training solutions to meet industry needs. A strong CPD mindset and a UK driving licence are expected.
Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 in Electrical or equivalent apprenticeship route.
- Assessor’s Award (preferably A1) or equivalent.
- GCSE English and Maths (A-C) or equivalent. Willing to achieve within 12 months.
- Proven knowledge of Health & Safety in the vocation.
- Wide technical knowledge in the vocation.
- Experience liaising with industrial partners.
- UK driving licence free of major endorsements.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development (CPD).
Responsibilities
- Guide and support students from initial enquiry to course selection.
- Coordinate work placements and monitoring with employers and agencies.
- Ensure safe, suitable work placements and clearly identified training.
- Promote recruitment for automotive courses at careers events.
- Collaborate with Marketing and WBL teams to market courses effectively.
- Represent the Work Based Learning Team in promotional activities.
- Arrange bespoke industry training when needed.
- Mentor candidates and monitor academic and vocational progress.
- Liaise with employers and assessors to ensure opportunities for competency assessment.
- Carry out formal NVQ assessments and progress reviews with learners and employers.

This role is based in the UK and will be working on site in our UK based College.
In order to comply with our mandatory pre-employment checks, the successful candidate will be required to provide original identification documents in person to our UK based People Services Department.
Any offers of appointment will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check (formerly CRB), a certificate of good conduct if applicable, plus receipt of satisfactory references, Occupational Health clearance, an understanding of safeguarding and qualifications verification. An Enhanced DBS check is required for this position as you will be working within 'Regulated Activity' within a specific place (i.e. the College).
This role is classed as working within Regulated Activity. It is an offence to apply for this role if you are barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children. By applying for this position, you agree to an Enhanced DBS check in line with DBS regulations.

In our determination to further develop both our service and responsiveness to local, regional and national industry we are seeking an enthusiastic individual to work closely with the work based team to develop industrial links, provide pastoral support and workplace assessment within Construction Work Based Learning.
We are now seeking a motivated and organised individual who can liaise with both employers and learners to assess their competencies within the workplace. This post will be based at our Royal Leamington Spa College.
To help, guide and support students, following their initial enquiry and interview, to choose the right course of study.
To work with the Course Managers and Training agencies, to help co-ordinate the placing and visiting of students in work placement, or employment positions with companies.
To work with managing agents to ensure that students are placed in a safe and suitable work situation where work based training can be clearly identified.
To attend careers events, liaise with schools and work with managing agents, to promote recruitment for all automotive courses.
Work with the Marketing teams and the Work Based Learning Management team to ensure that all-existing and new courses are marketed and promoted in the best interests of the college.
To represent the Work Based Learning Team in promotional activities.
To support industry by setting up and promoting bespoke training to meet industry needs, when required.
To mentor individual candidates and monitor their academic and vocational progress.
To liaise with company and other assessors to ensure that each candidate has the range of opportunities required for their competence assessment.
To carry out formal NVQ assessments.
To monitor the quality of training delivered by all training sub-contractors.
To carry out formal progress reviews with individuals and their employers.
To attend college delivered ‘Teaching Essentials’ training

- In order to ensure our students are being taught the latest skills there is a requirement for Lecturers to maintain their CPD and update industry specific skills on an annual basis
