Job summary

SGS College is seeking an Electrical Lecturer/Assessor (Apprenticeships) at Stroud Campus. This permanent, full-time role offers 37 hours per week with a salary up to £34,044 plus a possible £5,000 market supplement, depending on qualifications and experience.

The post involves managing apprenticeship caseloads, delivering and assessing workplace learning, and preparing learners for End Point Assessments, while collaborating with employers and college teams to ensure high-quality apprenticeship

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated industry knowledge in Electrotechnical Installations and up-to-date sector practices.
  • Experience delivering or assessing apprenticeships with awareness of quality assurance processes.
  • Ability to support team development and foster continuous improvement.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills with accurate record-keeping.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and support a caseload of electrical apprentices throughout their apprenticeship journey.
  • Conduct learner screening, interviews, induction, enrolment and individual learning planning.
  • Deliver and assess workplace learning with coaching, feedback and progress support.
  • Monitor learner progress and ensure compliance with funding/audit standards.
  • Prepare apprentices for End Point Assessment (AM2S) and support successful completion.
  • Build relationships with employers and maintain regular progress reviews.

We have an exciting role of Electrical Lecturer/Assessor within our Construction Apprenticeships team!

Key Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Manage and support a caseload of electrical apprentices throughout their apprenticeship journey.
  • Conduct learner screening, interviews, induction, enrolment and individual learning planning.
  • Deliver and assess workplace learning, providing coaching, training, feedback and progress support.
  • Monitor and record learner progress, achievement and off-the-job training requirements to ensure compliance with funding and audit standards.
  • Prepare apprentices for End Point Assessment (AM2S) and support successful programme completion.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with employers, ensuring regular communication, progress reviews and learner support.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching, learning support and functional skills teams to provide a holistic apprenticeship experience.
  • Maintain accurate learner records and performance data using Smart Assessor and other college systems.
  • Promote learner wellbeing, equality, diversity, inclusion, safeguarding, health and safety, and access to additional support where required.
  • Contribute to quality assurance, continuous improvement activities, staff development and the ongoing success and growth of apprenticeship provision.
Beneficial Skills & Qualifications
  • Relevant industry qualifications in Electrotechnical Installations, with up-to-date sector knowledge and experience
  • Experience of delivering or assessing apprenticeships, with a strong understanding of quality assurance processes
  • Ability to support team development and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement
  • Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to track learner progress and maintain accurate records
  • A recognised teaching and/or assessing qualification (e.g. PGCE, AET, CAVA, TAQA) or willingness to work towards
  • Passion for developing apprentices and supporting high-quality training aligned to industry standards
