Job summary

QS Recruitment is seeking a Supervisor to manage day-to-day waste collection operations in the UK. You will lead a team, ensure safety compliance, and maintain strong relations with customers and authorities.

The role requires supervisory experience, knowledge of health and safety regulations, and driving with a Cat C1 licence. Proficiency in MS Office and ability to work with local councils is essential.

Qualifications

• Health and safety awareness.
• Understanding of legislative obligations affecting refuse collection and disposal.
• Cat C1 Driving Licence is required.
• Experience using MS Office and other computer systems.
• Good local knowledge.
• Supervisory experience.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the day-to-day operations of a waste collection operation.
• Promote a good company image and maintain relations with customers, contractors and regulators.
• Ensure compliance with policies, schedules and statutory obligations.
• Conduct regular safety inspections and promote a culture of safety at work.
• Monitor performance to meet contractual requirements and deliver targets.
• Manage and develop staff, provide coaching and conduct investigations when needed.
• Utilise IT systems to improve service and financial performance.
• Oversee attendance and resource allocation to ensure daily service delivery.
• Respond to enquiries and handle stage 1 complaints promptly and accurately.
• Collaborate with transport managers to maintain O’ licence compliance.
• Attend meetings as required and work with local council officers on projects.
