Trainee Transport Planner

Menzies Distribution Solutions is seeking a Trainee Transport Planner to join our team in Coalville. The role involves training in Transport Planning for a busy 3PL company working exclusively with Class 1 vehicles, utilizing various systems. The goal is to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of customer products, adhering to Transport Legislation and Health & Safety standards. The role also focuses on maximizing fleet utilization and efficient planning of deliveries and collections.

The Details

• Shift Pattern: Monday-Friday
• Hours: 08:30-17:30
• Monthly Pay
• Onsite Parking

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Plan customer deliveries using available software to meet delivery windows.
• Liaise with drivers and customers regarding delays or issues.
• Develop backhaul lanes and maintain fleet utilization.
• Source agency drivers and subcontractors as needed, providing clear briefs.
• Complete late load reports and ensure loads meet safety standards.
• Manage drivers, ensuring adherence to schedules and WTD legislation.
• Pre-brief and de-brief drivers, ensuring documentation accuracy.
• Download and analyze driver tachograph data.
• Ensure compliance with transport legislation and WTD regulations.
• Conduct meetings, assessments, and maintain safety and operational standards.
• Record trailer information and manage related administration.
• Understand and meet KPIs for the department.
• Perform other transport office duties as required.

Key Experience and Qualifications

• Experience in a busy transport office environment.
• Knowledge of Drivers Hours, Tachograph, and WTD legislation.
• Understanding of Continuous Improvement principles.
• Good educational background, IT literacy, and safety knowledge.
• Familiarity with transport systems.
