Job summary

Maritime Transport Ltd. is seeking a Trainee Transport Operator for our East Midlands Gateway depot. You will manage multiple drivers, coordinate with ports, and book delivery slots while monitoring ETAs and on-time performance.

The role requires prior Transport/Traffic Operator experience, strong communication, and excellent knowledge of UK geography. You will work autonomously, solving problems efficiently and adapting to business needs.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Transport/Traffic Operator is essential.
• Confident and clear communicator, written and verbal.
• Excellent UK geographical knowledge.
• Ability to work on own initiative.
• Strong problem solving and organisational skills.
• Flexible to meet business demands.

Responsibilities

• Dealing with multiple drivers.
• Communicating with ports.
• Booking delivery slots for entry in ports.
• Using TOPS for inputting driver start and finish times.
• Chasing drivers for ETAs and ensuring on-time performance.
• Rerouting jobs as needed.
• Checking PODs match all jobs on the system.
• Informing customers about delays and advising ETAs.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Dealing with multiple drivers
• Communicating with ports
• Booking delivery slots for entry in ports
• Using a Transport system called TOPS for putting down drivers start times and finish times
• Chasing drivers for etas and making sure they are on time
• Rerouting jobs as and when is needed
• Checking all PODS are matched up with all the correct jobs on the system
• Speaking to customers on possible delays advising eta’s
